We’re sorry for the lack of communication for the last couple of months. Things are still hectic here in Redding with incoming dogs and some adoptions that we’re very thankful for. We are especially grateful to Stephen and Mary Ann Lopeman for giving our girl, Karlie a loving forever home. Karlie, unfortunately, was diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease which is devastating and for Karlie almost fatal. Karlie had lost so much weight from the IBD that she was literally a walking skeleton. Our vet was willing to try one more thing but said that if it did not work, we would be faced with putting Karlie down. To make a long story a little shorter, the last treatment worked and allowed her to gain about 10 pounds in month. She still had a long way to go, but things were looking up for her. Karlie had been with us for over a year when the Lopemans met her, and decided to adopt her. Karlie’s temperament from the first day here at the rescue was one of the best we had seen, but she just never got adopted because of her health concerns. I believe Mary Ann when she said that Karlie hadn’t been adopted because she was meant to go home with them, and she did. Stephen and Mary Ann are our heroes for giving one of our very special “kids” a home, and for that we are forever grateful.

We also hope to open our online store again soon. We will, hopefully, be offering T shirts, collars and leashes, and bandannas. Other than the collars and leashes, I will need some time to make the other items, so please be patient. I will do my best to get everything done in a timely manner. With the economy as it is, donations are down, so if you find yourself with a few extra dollars that you are able to donate, our “kids” would be very grateful. As always, your donations are tax deductible.

Also, as I am writing this Redding is surrounded by fires. We have been evacuated once in the ten years that we have been here, but that was with only 11 dogs-we have way more now! We are hopeful that we can make it through this fire season with no evacuations, but fire will always be a concern to us here during the summer months.

We hope you all have a safe and enjoyable summer.

Anna and Rich
