Hello everyone. My name is Gypsy, and I have quite a tale to tell. I was dumped at a shelter in the Los Angeles area by people who were thought to be my owners. They turned me in as a stray, probably because they didn't want to pay the $25 it would take to turn me in as their own dog. Because they did turn me in as a stray, I could not be adopted by anyone (even a rescue) until I had stayed at the shelter with multiple injuries for the legal number of days so that my "owners" could find me-which was never going to happen. Before I was so unceremoniously dumped, I was probably hit by a car which would account for my injuries. My back leg was fractured in a very awkward place which will require a long healing period, but it's been "pinned" by Dr. Larry and casted. If you notice my right front leg, I can't really walk on it. They say I have suffered some nerve damage, but here's the really scary part. If my front leg does not get better on it's own, I may lose it. I try not to think about that and focus on my back leg healing. As if all this was not enough, it has been determined that I am heartworm positive. I cannot be treated until my injured leg heals. No one (two or four legged) deserves to go through what I have, but I know I am in good hands here in Redding, and that all my needs will be met. If you would like to donate to help with my vet care, it would be much appreciated. My bills will be huge, but I would be happy to plant a big kiss on your chin if you would help me out. You see, in spite of everything, I still think you humans are worth my affection. I carry no grudges...
